Essential Skills are the foundation from which you are able to learn and develop new skills. Employment and Social Development Canada has identified nine main areas of focus: reading, document use, numeracy, writing, oral communication, working with others, thinking, computer use, and continuous learning.
Over 3 units, our online lectures discuss the importance of communication in the workplace, identifying standards for numeracy important to trades people, as well as locating sources of additional learning materials which students may access to further their own education.
The Essential Skills for Tradespeople Program is delivered in an easy to understand video on demand format. Access the pre-recorded lessons at anytime and review study materials at your own pace. Identify your strengths and weaknesses and study the material that is the most important for you. All course materials, full support of a Personal Program Advisor, and access to our online learning center are included in program fees.
